ENSEMBLES
Honors Band
The Madison Honors Band Meets 1st period in the school day and is under the direction of Mr. Wesley Perkins. This band performs and reads high level literature to play at Concerts and the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation each year.
Symphonic Band 1
The Symphonic Band 1 is under the direction of Mr. Michael Reynolds and meets 2nd period during the class day. This band performs high level literature throughout the year at the various school Concert events and the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation each year.
Symphonic Band 2
The Symphonic Band 2 is under the direction of Mr. Jaime Ramos. This band performs moderate level literature throughout the year at the various school Concert events and UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation.
Concert Band
The Concert Band is under the DIrection of All three Band Directors. This band plays developing to moderate level literature throughout the year at the various school Concert events.
Jazz Band
The Madison Jazz Band meets 6th period in the day. This band is under the direction of all 3 band directors and performs all different levels of styles and genres of jazz. Students are taught music theory and the art of improv which teaches students how to apply music theory in order to solo in their jazz literature.. In order to be in the Jazz Class students must also be in Concert/Marching Band.
Madison HS Marching Band
The James Madison HS Marching Band is made up of over 200 members and has a long history of success at UIL and various Marching Festivals. All Band Members that join band will be in the marching band and perform at the Football Games. Students that earn a "Varsity/Competition" Spot will also compete in Marching Contests each Saturday in October and November.
Colorguard
The Madison HS Colorguard represents the visual interpretation of the Madison HS Band. Colorguard Class is 7th and 8th period during the school day. Students wishing to be in the Colorguard do not need to have prior dance experience as the Colorguard Directors will teach all that is needed to be successful In the Fall the Colorguard is made up pf 23 students.
In the Winter/Spring the colorguard is split up into two separate competing units called Winterguards. The Madison JV and Varsity Winterguards compete at various Contests which culminate into the TECA State Championship Round. Mrs. Alyssa Hostos is the Colorguard Director at Madison HS.
